My favourite experiment was during a small project last year when I was using a 3D bioprinter. I used gelatin polymer as ink, in the polymer I had mixed in rat liver cells. I carried out an experiment where I printed the polymer with the cells inside into different shapes, and tested if the cells were still alive after being printed. Unfortunately about 50% had died during the printing process, but that meant 50% had lived!
Hoi guys – I’d say that my most favourite experiments are the simplest ones which directly answer a question and don’t leave room for doubts or errors. So it’s usually a well designed experiment as well.
I think my most favourite recent ones were actually showing the three enzyme film worked – I had two different coloured chemicals in my solution, and the first enzyme would cause the solution to go yellow, and the third enzyme would cause the solution to go green. Since it’d take some time for the third enzyme to sttart working the solution would first go yellow, then transition to green, and I could see it happen both visually, and also usin g a Ultra-violet visible spectrometer, and could tell exactly when the third enzyme started working. So relatively simple – mix all the chemicals with the films and leave overnight, but quite a nice result.
