• Question: What is the best way of purifying water in a school laboratory?

      Distillation is a good choice – using either a hotplate (which is safer) or a Bunsen burner 🙂

      Yep, I would agree with Ruhina, distillation is probably the best option.

      Like Ruhina and Rose I’d go with distillation, although if you just wanted to remove things like bacteria without worrying about the ions or salts you could make use of very fine filters, or even something like silica powder, which if of the right size should filter out all the biological nasties that can cause issues when consuming water.
