I’ve heard that S Thalidomide can change to R Thalidomide in the liver which could cause problems especially in pregnant women. Despite that, do you believe that it should be used as a sedative?

Fair point chemnet715 – in that case I personally would make sure that it is not present in medication given to pregnant women.
However there should be alternative sedatives which could be used in place of thalidomide, so you could sidestep the problem entirely.
